| Bulk email blast
More and more companies are using bulk email campaigns to reach prospects, customers or employees. You can do this with your own bulk email program or you can outsource this function to a third party like Constant Contact. Either way, success depends on having a good list of targets and "permission" to email the individuals on your target list. Don't even think about non-permission based (spaming) bulk email campaigns and be very careful when it comes to the purchase of a bulk email list. Most are just junk collected from the web. Even a legitimate list has a short shelf life because email addresses are not like street addresses, which rarely change. Don't be surprised if a third of your email list bounces, so look for ways to constantly add new recipients.
See below for some sample bulk email campaigns. Note how each features a strong, informative headline with a clear promise of benefit – a must to generate response.
One-two punch
The clients of Canadian HR Press received the eMessage on the left first – and the second eMessage a few weeks later. Why? To maximize response. Sending out just one message – we call this single shot advertising – is risky, costly and almost always leaves money on the table.
