Dirty, ugly web secret #3 –
Content Management Systems are often difficult to manage

Sit down with us before you invest in a content management system.  It could save you a lot of time and money.

Again and again, we encounter new clients who have been sold a Content Management System that is, well, difficult to manage.

Some are so difficult to manage that the client has given up and stopped making any changes. Others are limited to making only the most basic text changes. They don’t know how to insert graphics and create new pages – or they are simply too busy to take the time necessary to change content.

Here is one more ugly secret: only a small minority of business owners have the expertise to make effective content changes. This is no surprise because the average business owner is not a graphic artist or a copy writer. Put another way: why have a Content Management System if you don’t know how to manage content? Moreover, don’t you have better things to do, like managing staff and generating new business, and wouldn’t all of these things be more profitable than trying to figure out your Content Management System?

PS: We know what you are thinking. What is a PS doing on a web page? We do it all the time because a PS is one of the most effective techniques of direct mail. And it can be equally effective on a web page, provided you know how to use it. We must know this – because you just read our PS.
